Your questions, answered

How long does a van build take?

Most fully equipped builds will take around four months, unless they are fairly basic or unusually complex. Throughout the build, we will update you and communicate frequently about our progress and any design issues that might come up. Once we have a sense of the design and components you’d like to use, we can give you a more accurate estimate of how long a build might take.

I’m doing my own build, can you answer some questions I have?

We offer phone consultations for $85/hour and are happy to discuss any aspect of a build you are working on or considering.

What separates your builds from others?

We invest a lot of time in designing spaces that are warm and inviting, and relaxing to be in. Our other primary focus is on our wood work. We take great pride in our craftsmanship and attention to detail. Nothing in these vans is cookie cutter. Given that we are a small shop, we are able to accomplish these objectives at a very reasonable price.

Most importantly, our foremost concern is that our clients are happy, and we go out of our way to make sure that our clients are satisfied with every aspect of the building process, from our initial discussions to a fully-completed build.

How much does a build cost?

The cost of each build can vary greatly depending on the intended use of the van, the appliances installed in it, etc. Once we have a design nailed down, we will give you an estimate of what the build will cost based on experience from other comparable builds. Recent full custom builds have cost between $65,000-$90,000.

How do we get started?

Once we have discussed a design, we reserve your place in line with a deposit. When the time comes to start a build, you either drive or ship your van to our shop in Cumberland, Maine. As we build, we will give you frequent progress reports and will be readily available to answer any questions that might come up.
