About Us

High-end custom vans at a price you can afford.

Cold Mountain Vans was born out of Nate’s desire to share his love of the outdoors and of fine craftsmanship with others.  After a decade of working as a carpenter building high-end homes, Nate built out a van and set off on a yearlong road trip with his wife.  Having previously road-tripped exclusively out of a pickup truck, the comfort and ease of traveling in a custom van was a huge step up.  People everywhere admired the simple functionality and understated craftsmanship of that first van.  It had all the amenities and felt like home.  With that trip, the idea of starting a custom van conversion company was born.

Meet the builder

Nate is an avid rock climber and a skilled tradesman, both of which he’s done since he was a teenager. He learned to climb on the humble cliffs and boulders of Connecticut, but now loves climbing long, difficult free routes in the western US. Nate got his start in the trades by working in the cabinet shop while a student at Colorado College. After that, he spent the following decade as a cabinetmaker and carpenter, working on custom homes in San Francisco and Vermont. Nowadays, he spends his free time climbing in New England, spending time with his family, or tinkering in his shop in Cumberland, Maine.
